This report summarizes the emerald ash borer survey activities conducted during the agreement�s annual work period, January 1, 2011 through December 31, 2011.
2011 Emerald Ash Borer Work Plan
The Emerald Ash Borer has been detected in several states in the United States, but is not known to occur in Kansas. Early detection and containment of this pest is of great importance since it can cause the demise of ash trees which is about 5-7% of the tree population in Kansas but can be as high as 20% in some communities. The purpose of the survey will be to identify high risk areas, such as forestry debris dump sites, nursery stock, camping sites, military sites and shade tree plantings.

2011 Karnal Bunt Work Plan
The objective of this project is to ensure the ability to export Kansas wheat to foreign customers by collecting Kansas wheat grain samples as part of the National Karnal Bunt (Tilletia indica) survey. This survey will also provide information to the NAPIS data base and provide pest freedom assurance to our customers.

2011 Oak Pest Commodity Annual CAPS Report
This report summarizes the oak pest survey activities conducted during the agreement�s annual work period, January 1, 2011 through December 31, 2011.
2011 Oak Pest Commodity Work Plan
This detection survey is planned for three years and will gather data to determine the status of exotic oak pests in Kansas. The first year is planned for the northeast to north central with 50 sites trapped, the second year for the southeast to south central with 50 sites trapped and the third year for the central to western half of the state with 30 sites trapped. Areas in and around the priority resource area for oak will be selected.
2011 Preliminary Kansas Wheat Disease Loss Estimates
The cumulative disease loss estimate for the 2011 wheat crop was 6.2 per cent or 18 million bushels. This loss estimate includes a new category, the lesion nematodes. Surveys have shown lesion nematodes to be cosmopolitan in Kansas production fields. For comparison, the 2011 overall loss estimate is similar to 2009 (not including lesion nematodes), well below the 20 year average of 11.7 per cent.
