Republican River Compact Administration Groundwater Model
After years of dispute and litigation, on December 16, 2002, the States announced that a settlement had been reached in their dispute. On June 30, 2003, Kansas, Colorado and Nebraska reached agreement on the
Republican River Compact Administration (RRCA) groundwater model. The model will be used to quantify groundwater consumptive use by each state as part of the compact's accounting procedures. On August 22, 2003, the RRCA formally adopted the Settlement's accounting procedures, including the groundwater model.
Below is an index of selected elements of the model data:
Model documentation (3.1 Mb)
Model domain
Aquifer properties: average saturated thickness, hydraulic conductivity, specific yield, transmissivity.
Pumping estimates: animation (by month, starting in 1918), July 2000
Recharge page: soil types, recharge curves, acres irrigated by cell in 2000. This page also includes annual precipitation values and annual precipitations recharge and total recharge.
Other data include all model data files, phreatophyte ET, predicted heads, baseflow predictions, well hydrographs, model water budgets by county, and predicted streamflow impacts and mound accretions for each state.
