Programs and Services

As one of the state's lead industries, agriculture keeps changing to suit customers' evolving needs. Because agriculture is at the heart of Kansas' economy, it is important to keep producers growing and prospering through entrepreneurial activity and innovation.

Our Agriculture Marketing staff is committed to improving the economic condition of Kansas producers and boosting the prosperity of rural communities. Staff accomplishes this by providing programs and services in the following categories: 

  • Agriculture Value-Added Loans – Currently, the Agriculture Valued-Added Loan Program assists Kansas farmers, ranchers and agribusinesses diversify their businesses by encouraging adding value to the already high-quality commodities, goods and services they provide. Value-added agriculture is a very broad area ranging from areas of source-verified, further processing, diversification of existing operations, etc.  

  • International Marketing Programs – The Kansas Department of Agriculture maintains membership in several national organizations that allow Kansas to leverage federal resources that are then combined with state resources to build international markets for Kansas farmers, ranchers and agribusinesses. In addition, Agriculture works with the Kansas Department of Commerce Trade Division. Examples of international activities are hosting foreign buying teams, conducting overseas trade missions, providing international market research, etc.

  • Kansas Dairy Initiative – As Governor Brownback and Secretary of Agriculture Dale Rodman strive to grow the Kansas animal agriculture sector, dairy production is one key area Kansas is focused on. To learn more about the Kansas Dairy Initiative visit www.DairyInKansas.com.

  • Simply Kansas Trademark Program – Kansas’ current trademark program for Kansas grown, raised and produces agricultural products and experiences is Simply Kansas. To learn more, visit www.SimplyKansas.com.
