Ehresman Packing Co. recalls ham, summer sausage, bacon and smoked turkey

GARDEN CITY—Ehresman Packing Co. of Garden City today announced it is recalling ham, summer sausage, bacon and whole smoked turkeys it produced between January 5, 2009, and April 13, 2010. 

The meat products were sold at Ehresman Packing Co. in Garden City.  They are being recalled because the company did not adequately document temperatures of the meat products as they were chilled. 

Included in the recall are 12,072.9 pounds of ham and 7,697.85 pounds of bacon.  The weight of smoked turkey and summer sausage is unknown.

Consumers who purchased ham or bacon produced by Ehresman Packing Co. can check the date on the package to determine whether it’s impacted by this recall.  The date stamp appears entirely in numbers as month-day-year.  For consumers who had custom ham or bacon products prepared by Ehresman Packing Co., the date appears as month-day-year and the month is written out.

There have been no reports of illness related to people consuming the products, nor have they tested positive for foodborne illness causing pathogens. 

Consumers who purchased products affected by this recall should return them to Ehresman Packing Co. at 912 East Fulton Street in Garden City.
