Be sure to get permission and communicate the risks associated with the application BEFORE applying pesticides to someone else's property.
- IF you use a KDA registered pesticide product which is not label-restricted for use by a certified applicator (these products are often referred to as general use pesticides); and
- IF you're not engaged otherwise in commercial pesticide business activities; and
- IF you're not performing a service for hire in conjunction with the application,
- then you do not need to be certified as a pesticide applicator nor does the application have to be made under a pesticide business license.
If you have any doubts, don't make the application or, at least, contact us before you do. Otherwise, you may find yourself in violation of one or more state or federal laws.
It's important for you to realize that any chemical(s) used to kill or control a pest on property belonging to someone else must be registered with KDA and it must be used according to the label. Product labels are often lengthy and difficult to read due to the small printing but you need to make sure that the pest you want to control is listed and follow the directions for the site of application, the application method, and the rate of application.
In addition, PLEASE read and follow all safety and personal protective recommendations on the pesticide product label.
If the pest to be controlled is considered wildlife, be sure to contact your local US Fish and Wildlife Service and Kansas Department of Wildlife and Parks.
