Shipping Live Plants
Movement of live plants out of the State of Kansas is much the same as for the movement of other plant products such as grain, lumber, seeds, etc. Requirements for movement are set down by the importing country or state and the plant pest freedom standards they have adopted.
Several states have entered into an agreement with the State of Kansas and will allow the movement of live plant material under a Kansas Live Plant Certificate of Inspection which when issued, is based upon yearly inspections during the growing season.
A Live Plant Certificate of Inspection expires each year on January 31 and cannot be renewed unless inspections were conducted during the previous growing season. An application requesting a Live Plant Inspection (link follows) must be submitted each year.
