Southern Corn Rootworm (Spotted Cucumber Beetle)Plant pest detection activities form the basis for all program regulatory decisions and form the core of all program functions.

Detecting plant pests in production fields or as a part of a commodity inspection provides the basic information upon which intelligent decisions can be made.

Pest detection supports the exporCedar Quince Rustt of Kansas-produced plants and plant products to other states and foreign countries.

Early detection of exotic pests, including those of homeland security concern, is critical to protecting Kansas plant resources from the establishment of these pests.

Program staff have built cooperative relationships with state and federal public agencies, academic institutions, and private industry in Kansas to maximize the resource utilization.
