European Corn Borer Authorization Program

This program was established is in response to quarantines imposed on Kansas by several western states in an effort to eliminate or reduce the movement of European corn borer from infested areas into non-infested areas.

Kansas has entered into an agreement with the state of California whereby regulated commodities from Kansas producers are inspected and if found to be in compliance with the quarantine, are authorized to issue European corn borer certificates.

Corn and sorghum are the main plant commodities produced in Kansas that when shipped to the non-infested states requires European corn borer certification.

All non-infested states generally accept European corn borer certificates that are based on the California standards.

Authorization to issue European corn borer certificates is renewed yearly in order to ensure compliance.
