Chemigation Equipment Operator Application
A certified chemigation equipment operator is an individual who has successfully completed an examination provided by the Kansas Department of Agriculture. Examination fee of $25. The CEO certification is valid for five years, expiring December 31 of the fourth calendar year after the year of issue.
Chemigation User's Permit Application
A Chemigation User's Permit must be obtained before chemigating. The permit is valid for one year, expiring on December 31. The permit application/renewal fee is payable annually only on wells or water points of diversion to be used in the chemigation process during current year; $75 for the first well/water point of diversion and $15 for each additional well/water point of diversion. Anti-Pollution Plan and Plan for Handling Tailwater is required.
Anti-Pollution Plan
Chemigation Users Permit requires an Anit-Pollution Plan. The Kansas Chemigation Safety Law (K.S.A. 2-3301 et seq.) requires that irrigation systems which are used to apply pesticides, fertilizers, or other chemicals, or animal wastes, must be equipped with certain functional anti-pollution devices.
Plan for Handling Tailwater
Chemigation Users Permit requires a Plan for Handling Tailwater -Tailwater is excess irrigation water which reaches the lower end of a field. Tailwater is reused to irrigate crops.
