
Levees and Floodplain Fills
The Levee Law of 1929 makes it unlawful to construct fills and levees without prior approval of the Chief Engineer in the Division of Water Resources. The Water Structures Program within DWR provides permit approval for levees and floodplains.
Other permits may be required, including but not limited to:
1. Permit to Appropriate Water from the Water Appropriation Program
2. Construction permits from county and local government
3. Corps of Engineers
