
Precipitation
The National Climatic Data Center has weather stations in Kansas. Four stations provide precipitation data for this subbasin. One is located at Kinsley in Edwards County. Another is located at Larned in Pawnee County. Two others are in Barton County at Great Bend and Albert 5 SE. The smallest precipitation on record was in 1956 when only 12.14 inches fell. The highest was in 1973 with 41.75 inches. The long-term average for the subbasin is 25.1 inches.

Big Bend Groundwater Management District No. 5 also has weather stations. These stations provide precipitation and evapotranspiration data. The stations record data daily. Three stations are in the subbasin. They are Great Bend, Lewis and Radium. In 2010, the three stations averaged 23.8 inches of precipitation. However, there was an average of 46.8 inches in evapotranspiration.
