Groundwater

The Kansas Geological Survey and the Kansas Department of Agriculture-Division of Water Resources together measure groundwater levels in the Upper Arkansas Subbasin. There are 100 groundwater wells. They are located in the alluvial, the Ogallala-High Plains and Dakota aquifers.

The Division of Water Resources measures wells in the winter, spring and fall.  The Water Level Charts use only winter measurements. Those groundwater levels are considered the least affected by irrigation pumping. Winter measurements include December, January and February.
